Welcome to our site for Modern Greek Drama and Film!
This website has been developed (over several years) as a pilot research project at Boston College (USA). The site aims at providing access to recorded materials of interest for the study of contemporary Greek drama and film — with added content aimed particularly at speakers of English.
We present:
For each recording in Greek we provide (as 'added content') a transcript, an English translation and subtitles. Our intent is to make the recordings more readily accessible to audiences lacking native understanding of oral Greek -- especially university students (of drama, film, and/or of modern Greek language and literature) in English-speaking countries for whom our additional materials may be helpful.
We have received permission to post the entire production of Paris Tacopoulos' The Pre-Last of the Monikins, with actor Nikos Kalamo.
Identification of the plays and the productions, regarding available published translations, as well as the names of the participants on the research team, is provided.
We present:
- a collection representing seven contemporary Greek plays:
- five video-clips of excerpts (each ca. 4-6 minutes in length);
- two full-length plays;
- four interviews/presentations (with author/playwright Paris Tacopoulos, film specialist Professor Dan Georgakas, actor Dimitris Kataleifos, film director Periklis Choursoglou).
